In this January, I suddenly had an idea to listen to this prototype music that is kept on my hard disk and found it quite interesting. So I thought I might release it some where... but first of all, it was just a sketch of an idea, so the editing was not good enough. So I decided to re-edit it and make a new version.
As the DAW I was using at the time was different, so I started by salvaging the Wav and Midi files of each track from old DAW. The sounds of rhythm tracks in Midi and audio effects were made in the current DAW, and the mix, panning and overall composition of the song were also reviewed.I didn't add any new recordings or anything like that, rather just reorganized the music.
Idea
I remember that I was trying to make for this piece is combining the overtone swells appear by over dubbed double bass sound and rhythms or pulses that do not fill up the space too much. For " Les Blancs 1 " with a rhythm that has space, and for " Les Blancs2 " with rather only pulse.I thought while i was listening to... this kind of direction or idea is one of never changing musical motif for me, so it would be interesting to push it further...." Something like a empty but it make us feel there is something " stuff like that. In fact, there is nothing difficult to play for this music.
Similar works
I think "Les Blancs" is on the same musical contexte of the work I made in 2006 for " The First Night" in "Ten Night's Dreams" by Soseki Natsume . This piece was commissioned for " the first night " part of an independent omnibus film, "Ten Night's Dreams : Pirate Edition ". I divided this short-short story into three parts ( 1 : The main character's wife was dying in saying " Please wait for me for 100 years...". 2 : He was waiting. 3 : Finally they met again ) and created musics for each scene.
